All peoples have an unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination. This is a fundamental principle of International Law, an established human right, and a right South Africa has sworn to uphold in three distinct international treaties it has signed and ratified since 1994. In accordance with section 232 of the Constitution, it is also the law of South Africa.

Taiwan is a constitutional democracy and unequivocally has the right to determine the nature of its relationship with the People’s Republic of China in accordance with the democratic will of the people of Taiwan.
These comments are made in the context of South Africa seeking to further marginalize the Taiwanese people by forcing them to relocate their diplomatic mission to South Africa away from Pretoria.
