Self-determination

We believe that the Western Cape people should claim their legal right to self-determination. This will allow them to take control of their own destiny rather than allowing the South African national government to make most of the important decisions for them. Self-determination can be exercised in various forms from more provincial powers right through to independence from South Africa.

Referendum on Cape Independence

We believe that a referendum on Western Cape Independence should be held where the Western Cape people can make the decision whether they wish the Western Cape to remain a province of South Africa, or whether they wish to leave South Africa and form a new independent sovereign state.

Non-racialism

We strongly oppose discriminating against people on the basis of their race. We propose changing the South African Constitution so that all forms of racial discrimination are prohibited.

Cultural Respect

We believe that allowing communities to live according to their cultural values and allowing those cultures the freedom to adapt and develop is essential to any people's happiness and wellbeing. South Africa and the Western Cape are both culturally diverse, and one size most certainly does not fit all.

Illegal settlements

We believe that ongoing large scale illegal settlement of land in the Western Cape is extremely detrimental to the welfare of the Western Cape people. As a bare minimum it must be stopped, and where possible it should be reversed. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye when lawbreakers are advantaged by their illegal actions whilst lawful citizens are disadvantaged. We propose changes in the law to allow illegal settlements to be quickly removed without unreasonable burdens then being placed on the state.

Economic development

We believe in creating an enabling economic environment where businesses will grow and create employment. As a minimum, the state must stop hindering economic growth by removing unnecessary bureaucratic obstacles. Thereafter, the state should play a supporting role assisting businesses to capitalise upon the enormous economic potential of the Western Cape and South Africa.

WC Taxation

We believe that Western Cape taxes should predominantly be spent on providing services to the Western Cape people and that Western Cape taxpayers should decide for themselves how their taxes are spent. Proportionately, the Western Cape pays far more into the South African financial system than it receives back. We do not believe it is right that Western Cape taxpayers are forced to fund incompetence and corruption in regions where they have no ability to hold the government there to account.
