Referendum Party Calls Out Sports Minister On Discrimination Double Standards

The Referendum Party (RP) notes the comments made by Minister McKenzie condemning the Afghani Cricket Federation for its discrimination against women, whilst referencing his own painful experiences of racial discrimination in sport.

The RP stands squarely behind the Minister on both issues.

This, however, makes the Minister’s hypocrisy all the more galling. South Africa imposes strict racial quotas in a number of sporting codes. Most ironically, Cricket SA has led the charge for racial discrimination.

Anyone who has experienced the pain of racial exclusion from sport, should not be inflicting the same treatment on others, especially not whilst judging another country for doing the same.

The RP calls on Minister McKenzie to immediately outlaw all forms of racial discrimination across all sporting codes in South Africa. If he wants other countries to practice equality and non-discrimination, he should start by setting an example at home.
